Olympus, this sacred mountain that is a symbol of Greek mythology, emerges as a national park and a world cultural monument. It is a destination for thousands of climbers who seek its secrets on the high peaks of Mytikas and Stefani, where the Ancient Greeks placed the palaces of their gods. The mixed forests of Olympus, rich in pines, firs, oaks and beeches, create an ecosystem fed by nectar and ambrosia, hosting rare plants of both Mediterranean and Alpine types. In Olympus we meet birds of prey and animals of the forest, with the wild goat being the "king" of the alpine zone. The geographical position of Olympus creates a special topoclimate, with intense climatic changes throughout its area. Storms, snowstorms, fogs and strong winds are some of the phenomena that characterize the area. Climbing Mount Olympus, which is covered with snow in winter, requires knowledge, experience and appropriate equipment. It becomes more welcoming during the period from June to October, but the climb always requires preparation, discipline and respect to reveal its magic to visitors.
